The government has decided to provide funds to pay the employees of 14 abandoned factories. The “managers” of the factories managed to desert their employees without paying them their due wages.
The Labour Ministry announced on Friday, June 29, that Prime Minister Hun Sen has agreed to provide funds to pay those employees who have not received salaries or other allowances from their employers.
The personnel of nine factories in Phnom Penh, two in Kandal, and three in Kampong Speu are affected by the actions of the lamming leaders, but the ministry made no mention of how many employees are affected, or how much money is owed them.
The ministry asked the former employees of Top World and Bada in Phnom Penh to get their money themselves at the Kbal Kok commune from July 2 to 3. They must bring proper employment documentation, including their company ID card, and wage or pay slips.
