Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng’s Cameroonian hotshot Privat Mbarga hit four goals as he led his side to a 6-1 win over Asia Euro United on Sunday evening – with the side continuing their unbeaten league record in the process.
Mbarga hit a first half-hat-trick before goals from Chea Samnang and Hoy Phallin added salt to AEU’s wounds. Mbarga, now on 34 goals this season, hit the game’s final goal in the 85th minute capping a masterful performance.
Led by Irish coach Conor Nestor, PKR, who have already wrapped up their second league title, remain undefeated in the league and now in contention for a league and cup double. They face Boeung Ket in the final on November 6 at Smart RSN Stadium.
The influence of Phallin, defensive-acumen of US-born Jonny Campbell and Cambodia captain Soeuy Visal, creative genius of Prak Mony Udom, and a lethal eye for goal from Mbarga has seen the provincial side rack up an unbeatable tally of 65 points from 25 games – 20 wins, 5 draws and 0 losses.
PKR’s English midfielder Charlie Machell said winning the Cambodian league would be an unforgettable memory in his football career and that he was fortunate to work with the team.
“I am really enjoying playing at Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng this season, he told reporters.
“From the first day everyone welcomed me. I’m lucky to work with them and I’m happy to be part of such a great fanbase. I spent a few months during the pre-season adapting to the game here, and I felt I could help the team. “
