Cambodia and Japan to enhance cooperation

Cambodia and Japan have vowed to enhance cooperation in combating terrorism and cross-border crime, the national police spokesman said.

Lieutenant General Chhay Kim Khoeun said newly appointed Japanese Ambassador Mikami Masahiro met National Police chief General Neth Savoeun and both discussed cooperation.

Lt. Gen Kim Khoeun noted both parties agreed to further their cooperation in building mechanism and exchange information in a joint effort to combat terrorism and cross-border crime, including drug trafficking.

Ambassador Mikami agreed to share the country’s experience in hosting national and international events with Cambodia, in particular Cambodia is set to host the upcoming the 13th Asia-Europe Summit and he 2023 Sea Games.

General Savoeun also thanked Japan for its assistance in providing training and experience to Cambodian police, noting that police are now executing their roles professionally and maintaining peace for the Kingdom.
