After an extended hiatus due to Cambodian national football team commitments, the domestic Metfone C-League returned for matchweek 22 at the weekend.

In Saturday’s highlight, Visakha and Ministry of National Defense played out an ill-tempered affair at Visakha Stadium with the hosts running out 3-0 winners thanks to a second-half treble.

After a goalless first period, Visakha, who sit in second position in the league behind Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng, turned up the pressure on the visitors and were soon rewarded as Brazilian hotshot Eliel da Cruz Guardiano notched the opener. Sary Matnorotin hit a second before Guardiano rounded off a handsome victory with 8 minutes to play.

Despite the departure of much-loved coach Hok Sochivorn mid-way through the season, interim coach Akeeb Tunji Ayoyinka has now steered the club to an enviable position on the league table.

Elsewhere on Saturday, National Police Commissary handed an unexpected defeat to Angkor Tiger at EDC Stadium. The 4-1 win came courtesy of a Souza Silva Matheus hat-trick with Okaro Matthew Osa also on target for the Police side.

At the Siem Reap Province Stadium, a Fumiya Kogure strike earned the win for Soltilo Angkor against a staunch Electricite Du Cambodge.
