A Chinese national on Saturday was shot dead by two unidentified countrymen in his room at a resort in Sihanoukville.
A police report identified him as Shi Changhui, 34, a tourist who was staying at the Good Time resort in Preah Sihanouk’s Sihanoukville.
It said that at about 2.30pm on Saturday, two men drove to the resort, parked their motorbike in front of it and went to the victim’s room.
The report said the men fired a shot which hit Mr Shi above his left eyebrow, killing him instantly.
Major General Chuon Narin, provincial police chief, yesterday said his officers are trying to identify the two Chinese suspects.
“We have been working hard on the case since the incident occurred,” he said.
On July 23, a 25-year-old Chinese woman was also shot dead in Sihanoukville’ Bei commune at about 11.30pm by the three unknown Chinese nationals.
A General Department of Immigration statement said that on the night of the incident, Zhang Dan, a worker with SV Casino, and her boyfriend, Xiao Lizhi, also a Chinese national, had left the casino to go to a coffee shop.
The statement said two Chinese men attempted to abduct them. When the victims tried to flee, one of the men fired a shot which hit Ms Dan, killing her.
