Stung Hav district military police in Preah Sihanouk province on Wednesday arrested four men and one woman for alleged drug use and trafficking.

Captain Keo Sophath, deputy district military police commander, yesterday identified them as Chan Den, 39, Toch Than, 35, Mi Chi, 33, Cheang Sereyvuth, 22 and Sday Sar, 39. There are all fishermen from Stung Hav district.

Cap Sophath said they were arrested at about 7pm on Wednesday by Stung Hav district military police after officers raided a rental house in Keo Phos commune.

He said police monitored the suspects’ activities for two weeks before cracking down and arresting them in their rental house, where they were found while smoking drugs.

“They were suspected of using drugs and selling drugs to fishermen and construction workers in Stung Hav district,” Cap Sophath said. “They were all arrested after district military police raided their rental house in Keo Phos commune on Wednesday night.”

He noted that police seized 16 small packages of methamphetamine, one scale, seven phones, two motorbikes and drug paraphernalia from them.

Cap Sophath said the suspects all tested positive for drug use.

Brigadier General Heng Bunty, Preah Sihanouk provincial military police commander, yesterday said the suspects are accused of drug use and trafficking.

He added that they will be sent to the provincial court today.
