A Cambodian official is representing the kingdom at the Chef de Mission seminar ahead of next year’s Summer Olympics.
The three-day visit by the National Olympic Committees (NOCs) of participating nations kicked off on Monday with Nhan Sokvisal, National Olympic Committee of Cambodia Chef de Mission, Games Coordinator and Director for International Relations attending the 2020 Olympic Preparatory Mission in Tokyo.
The meeting is focusing on the preparation of the host country in cooperation with the International Olympic Committee including an overview of the Olympic Village, venues, transport, accommodation, and medical services.
Dogging proceedings is the searing heat and water quality issues which have emerged in recent weeks. But delegates said they are confident their hosts will find solutions ahead of next year’s Games.
Soaring temperatures have killed at least 57 people across Japan since late July, highlighting a possible threat to athletes and visitors.
