“In the Life of Music” a film directed by Mrs Caylee So and Sok Visal, was selected to represent Cambodia for the Academy Awards, 2020. It was announced last Friday at Bophana Centre. Selected by the organizing committee from Cambodia’s Oscar Selection Committee (COSC), “In the Life of Music” will represent Cambodia at the International Feature Film Award of the 92nd Oscars ceremony. The film is on collective experiences of some Cambodians who were victims during the Khmer Rouge era. It’s a film that gives viewers a look about Cambodia before, during, and after the Khmer Rouge. On the other hand, the purpose of the film is also to explore three different decades of Cambodia which describes how the people live and how their lives were transformed after the genocidal regime. The Oscars are being held each year by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences in Hollywood. Each country will have to submit one film for the Best International Feature Film category and the authorized national organisation will choose which film gets selected for submission.
