Cambodia, Guizhou officials discuss trade

Officials from Cambodia and Guizhou, a mountainous province in southwest China, on Monday discussed trade and investment in a seminar held in Phnom Penh.

At the forum, Cambodia was represented by Choun Dara, secretary of state at the Ministry of Commerce. The Chinese side was represented by Li Lingbo, deputy party secretary and mayor of Panzhou, a county-level city in Guizhou.

Mr Dara said the forum aimed to promote Cambodia’s investment potential to Chinese firms.

“Cambodia and China have entered a strategically comprehensive partnership that will help bolster cooperation across all sectors,” he said.

Mr Dara promised to facilitate investments from the Chinese province and noted that the Kingdom is open to foreign investment.

Mr Li said several companies from Guizhou are considering investing in the Kingdom.

“We will encourage investors from Panzhou to consider the Cambodian market, particularly the agriculture and tourism sectors.”

According to NBC, over 40 percent of foreign direct investment in Cambodia comes from China.
