Mr. Albert Tan, President of the Singapore Club Cambodia

Dear SCC Members and fellow Singaporeans
This year, as we celebrate our 54th National Day we also celebrate the Bicentennial of Singapore’s founding by Sir Stamford Raffles in 1819

It is an opportunity for us to get together and meet new and old friends, as well as to highlight Cambodia’s progress and fast-changing landscape. This reflects vast opportunities that Cambodia has to offer. Singaporeans have been making inroads and footholds in several areas of expertise, including in manufacturing, engineering services, management service, hotels, education, legal services, health care and trading. These businesses have been undertaken by Singaporeans, either on their own or in collaboration with Cambodian partners – creating opportunities for better quality jobs, skills upgrading and higher service and employment in all sectors.

Singapore Club Cambodia (SCC) has recently set up a new business arm, Biz+. Through this new business chapter, we hope to better promote and represent Singapore companies in Cambodia. We hope to strengthen our community by creating opportunities to build closer relationships between people through business and other events organized in collaboration with and guidance from the Singapore Embassy in Phnom Penh.

SCC and our Singaporean community have extended their community service beyond just Singaporeans to include Cambodians in local communities with whom we work and live with. SCC undertakes several projects each year which brings a smile to many faces and provides opportunities for a brighter future, thanks to our partnership with Khmer Sight Foundation. Together, we have undertaken projects to restore eyesight to many Cambodians. Thanks to the work of our doctors and medical volunteers from Singapore, we are happy that they have made a difference in the lives of Cambodians.

As we mark the 54th Anniversary of our independence, it is a special day for us to reflect on what we have accomplished together, and to celebrate this auspicious day of our nation’s independence. This year, SCC will organize our National Day Bicentennial Nostalgic Night event on Sunday, 11 August 2019 at the Raffles Hotel Le Royal. This is a night of celebration, food and fun to take the pioneer generation on a walk down memory lane. We hope to celebrate these ties as a community and to share our old pastimes in food, drink, games and entertainment. This event serves to be one of the hallmarks of SCC’s presence in Cambodia, and we hope you will join us.

We will continue our work to ensure that the Singaporean community continue to be well-represented in Cambodia. More importantly, that you will feel at home here. We believe the future of commerce between our nations will continue to strengthen and look forward to serving your businesses as we grow together.

With this, I take this opportunity to wish all Singaporeans, a Happy 54th National Day and Majulah Singapura.

Albert Tan
President of the Singapore Club Cambodia
