Ouk Sovanlyda went on a mission to satisfy the cravings of hungry foodies without emptying their wallet. Very little can defeat a plate full of roasted duck meat, steaming hot rice and a tiny bowl of belly-warming soup on the side. Dip in special hoisin sauce, the duck meat is tender and juicy to the bite, complimented by freshly cooked rice, the whole dish is a true delicacy to kickstart your appetite of the day. For only 8000 riel ($2) per serving, you get a regular sized portion of rice and roasted duck meat, an additional bowl of hot soup, pickled vegetables side dish, extra dipping sauce and unlimited refill iced tea. Besides from the roasted duck, you can also opt for roasted pork as alternative meat option for the same price per serving. Roasted duck for today, roasted pork for tomorrow.

Clueless about where to go for lunch or take your date out for brunch? Look no further. Nearby the central market is a local restaurant that serves their house specialty, Bay Ko Dot (Beef on a hot plate) for just 6000 riel ($1.50). Hence the name, it is served on a hot plate, with egg, fresh onions, and thin cut beef along with a serving of white rice or bread. A plate of buttery and savory goodness that will keep you wanting for more. If you like your Ko Dot even hotter, add a scoop of additional cayenne pepper to elevate the kick in your dish. Feeling the heat seeping in? You can water it down with a glass of cooling iced tea for FREE! Craving for a little bit of desert to coat your tongue from all the heat? There are varieties of dessert options for you to choose with the price as low as 2000 riel. A deal so sweet, you couldn’t possibly resist.


Oldest burger joint

Been around since the early 2000s, it is one of the oldest local burger shops to ever be introduced in Cambodia. It’s considered the OG of the OG, in terms of fast food in Phnom Penh. It offers a menu of burger options, dessert and drinks, with an affordable price. The house signature dish is the 5000 riel ($1.10) classic beef burger, both cheap and authentic to its taste. If you have room for a little more, you can also order a serving of French fries on the side then finish off with a cold milkshake to fight off the heat of the summer. If affordability is still not enough, bear in mind that they offer the fastest service for takeout. In less than 5 minutes, your order is packaged and ready to go.
