The Ministry of Water Resources today issued a flood alert in coastal provinces due to heavy rain while Preah Sihanouk provincial governor called people to be be careful going to the beach or fishing.
In a statement today, the ministry warned that southwest monsoonal floods are expected in the provinces of Preah Sihanouk and Koh Kong, especially along national road 4 in the Preah Preah Sihanouk province.
It added that the strong winds and rain are expected to hit theses provinces from today until Tuesday next week.
Preah Sihanouk provincial governor Kuoch Chamroeun, today called all fishermen to temporary suspend their fishing activities in the sea from today until next week.
He said some area in the provinces has been facing floodwater and he also appealed to national and international tourist to be careful for their own safety.
“The tourists should not go to swim during this period because they could face accidents,” Mr Chamroeun said.
