Visakha continue to remain untroubled after the departure of much-loved coach Hok Sochivorn, registering a 4-1 win over Kirivong Sok Sen Chey in the pick of Matchweek 15 action in the Metfone C-League on Saturday.

Visakha raced to a four-goal lead at half-time as an early brace from debutant forward Ajayi Opeyeme Korede gave the visitors a two-goal cushion before Visakha plundered two more through Pak Song Chol and Tieng Tiny.

Kirivong proved little resistance although did strike a consolation late in the second period with Marcio Gleydson scoring in the 80th minute.

In yesterday afternoon’s fixtures, Boeung Ket ran out 4-0 winners over Electricite du Cambodge in ruthless fashion.

BK, playing their first competitive match at the new Cambodia Airways Stadium, had Samuel Gbenga Ajayi to thank as the hotshot African forward hit two superb strikes in the closing stages of each half. Fan favourite Chan Vathanaka was also on target in a lively first period, while Julius Oiboh also got on the scoresheet with a 56th minute finish.

In Saturday’s late game, NagaWorld eked out a slender 1-0 win away to Mionistry of National Defense. With the game hurtling towards a goalless draw, Kouch Dani scored with a little under 8 minutes of normal time remaining to keep the defending champs within touching distance of table-topping Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng.

Saturday’s remaining game saw Asia Euro United and National Police Commissary play out a 1-1 draw.

The CNCC, Cambodian Football’s organising committee, also handed out Player of the Month and Coach of the Month awards yesterday.

Sun Vanna, stand-in coach for Phnom Penh Crown, was selected by the National Football Commission of Cambodia (CNCC) as the June manager of the month after leading Crown to 4 consecutive wins in June. Vanna, who joined Crown at the beginning of the season as assistant coach, was appointed as a temporary coach after the departure of Brazilian tactician Leonardo Vitorino in May.

Deadly striker Privat Mbarga was named Player of the Month for June after a big contribution in front of goal for Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng.
