After his contract was ended by Visakha FC last week, some of the club’s players have been displaying solidarity and posting messages of support for departed coach and fan favourite Hok Sochivorn.

During a friendly match after Sochivorn’s departure, Visakha midfielder Sary Matnorotin displayed a message to his former coach under his shirt. “We have Ready you Back”, emblazoned on the players shirt during their 6-0 victory over National Police Commissary in the Hun Sen Cup.

The former NagaWorld clarified later that he and many of the players disagreed with the clubs decision to let Sochivorn go.

“For me, he is a fair and well-mannered man who fights for the team and he’s a great motivator for all the players,” said the 22-year old.

“We really regret this news because it hurts too much and also affects our feelings, so I want them to bring him back. I believe all players and fans want him to come back to his place,” he added.

A fan campaign on social media also saw the hashtag #Pleasecomeback trend among supporters.

In the 2018 league season, Visakha finished third in the final league standings, 11 points adrift of champions NagaWorld. It was a sensational finish for Visakha who were making their first appearance in the top flight.

However, with expectations high, Visakha currently sit fifth in the 2019 league standings, 8 points adrift of table toppers Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng. Sochivorn has been replaced by interim head coach Tunji Ayoinina Akeeb.
