One man died, a woman was injured and nearly 100 houses were damaged by storms that hit Banteay Meanchey province on Friday.
According to a report by the National Committee for Disaster Management, 99 houses were affected, of which 16 were completely destroyed, in addition to one school that was also damaged.
“The rainstorm, which affected almost 100 homes, occurred in more than 22 communes in two cities and six districts in Banteay Meanchey province, including Poi Pet city, Serei Sophorn city, Thamor Pouk district, Svay Chek, Preah Netrpreah, Mongkol Borei, Phnom Srok and O’Chrov districts,” the report noted.
Provincial Governor Oum Reatrey visited the houses that were damaged by the storm and ordered local authorities to take immediate action to help the people by distributing aid and repairing the houses.
Mr Reatrey added that a construction worker, Say Sophy, 32, died, while another woman was seriously injured.
