Traffic suspended across Tonle Sap bridge

Phnom Penh Municipal governor Khuong Sreng has announced that vehicle access on the bridge across the Tonle Sap River, from the Sokimex gasoline station in Russey Keo district to the Prek Tasek commune in Chroy Changvar district has been suspended for 15 days for maintenance and technical checks.

“The bridge was opened for use about a year ago and in order to ensure the quality and safety of our people who are crossing this bridge, city hall will take time for checking the technical aspects of the and routine maintenance, including bridge units, upper parts and pillars of the bridge.” said Mr Sreng.

He said that after maintenance and checks, the bridge will be opened for use.

The bridge over the Tonle Sap river was constructed in October, 2017 under a $35 million Overseas Cambodia Investment Corporation project (OCIC).
