More than 60 VoIP scammers sent back to China

General Immigration Department today deported 68 Chinese nationals who were caught operating Voice over Internet Protocol scams in Preah Sihanouk province.

Chinese police chartered special aircraft  to fly the deportees from Sihanoukville on Wednesday. There were 63 of them, said Lieutenant General Keo Vanthan, a spokesman for the General Immigration Department.

“In total, 68 Chinese nationals have been deported to China over operating VoIP scams, and yesterday we deported another five,” Lt Gen Vanthan said.

According to the GID, 14,909 foreigners from 93 different countries have been deported from the Kingdom since 2014. Among them, 1,649 Chinese nationals have been deported for allegedly committing economic crimes.
