Mekong Dolphins

Cambodia is blessed to have dolphins living in its waters. The Mekong dolphins are considered as reincarnations of ancestors, making them sacred mammals. The Mekong dolphins live in the waters of Kratie province, weighing about 250kg and measuring about 275cm.

But the emergence of fishing explosives is now becoming a threat to the lives of Mekong dolphins. In fact, the dolphins have been classified by the International Union for Conservation of Nature as critically endangered.

But here’s a good news: In a report released in 2018 by WWF, the number of dolphins in Cambodia has increased from 80 to 92.
