Preah Sihanouk Provincial Court today charged a 26-year-old man with raping and killing a 10-year-old girl and her two-year-old brother.
Major General Chuon Narin, provincial police chief, said today that Meang Vichet, 26, was sent to the court and was charged with rape and manslaughter.
“Basically, our police have accused the suspect of raping a minor with violence and manslaughter,” Maj Gen Narin said.
Maj Gen Narin said that Mr Vichet’s wife, Sam Soriya, was released today as she was found not to be involved in the crime.
“We released her and allowed her to go home. After being questioned and investigations, she was found not to have conspired with the suspect,” Maj Gen Narin said.
On May 29, the bodies of 10-year-old Pha Srey Leak and her two-year-old brother Pha Sok Ly were found in bloody pools at their home in Prey Nop district’s Bit Traing commune.
National Police on Sunday arrested Mr Vichet, and his wife Soriya, 26, at their home in Prey Veng province’s Mesang district.
