National Assembly President Heng Samrin on Saturday returned to the Kingdom after fruitful talks during a five-day visit to Vietnam and Laos, an official said.
Chheang Vun, chief of the National Assembly’s commission on Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, Information and Media, on Saturday told reporters that during his visit to Vietnam Mr Samrin met Vietnamese President Nguyen Phu Trong, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and president of the Vietnamese National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.
Mr Vun said that during talks with Ms Thi Kim Ngan, Mr Samrin asked Vietnam to support human resource training for National Assembly staff, including providing technical equipment, and also discussed aid grants.
“A $25 million grant will be coming soon,” he noted.
Mr Vun said that the Vietnamese side requested Cambodia, especially Prime Minister Hun Sen, ensure a smooth relocation of Vietnamese living in floating houses in the Kingdom.
He said that Mr Samrin replied that the relocation was being done based on the Kingdom’s laws which was also applied to Cambodians.
