A 19-year-old dentist was murdered on Monday in Prek Pnov district by a killer who stabbed him to death, police said yesterday.
Captain Veng Sok, a penal police officer with Ponhea Poan commune police, identified the victim as Thun Ravin, a 19-year-old dentist who was murdered at about 2am on Monday in his clinic in Boeng village. Police have not been able to identify the killer.
Cap Sok said the victim’s uncle, 51-year-old Moeun Vutha, discovered Mr Ravin’s body at about 7.30am on Monday when he arrived to open the clinic.
Mr Vutha immediately alerted commune police, who came to inspect the crime scene.
“According to post-mortem examination, Mr Ravin was stabbed several times on the chest and back until he died,” Cap Sok said. “After killing him, the killer stole the victim’s iPhone and other valuable items and fled.”
Cap Sok said the victim’s body has been handed over to his family in Kampong Cham province for the funeral.
Colonel Chhin Kimthuy, chief of Prek Pnov district police, said that this was a murder case, not a robbery. However, police do not have any further details yet.
Col Kimthuy noted that the killer may have known the victim, adding that the killer knew when to break into the victim’s office while he was sleeping inside.
“Police still cannot identify the suspect,” Col Kimthuy said. “Police are still working on the case to find the killer to be punished in accordance with the law.”
