Embracing true meaning of Ramadan, Malaysian and Cambodian Muslims came together to celebrate!
Malaysian and Cambodian Muslims came together to the Iftar Dinner held at the Embassy of Malaysia, Phnom Penh on May 18, 2019, Saturday. This gathering was a way of showing how united and close the Muslim families are with each other. As part of their tradition, this gathering portrays the spirit of solidarity and strong relations between Malaysia and Cambodia thus, making it a memorable dinner.
This get-together was hosted by the newly appointed Malaysian Ambassador to Cambodia, H.E Eldeen Husaini Mohd Hashim and attended by the honouree H.E Oknha Dr. Othsman Hassan, Senior Minister in charge of Special Mission. Several Cambodian Muslim Secretaries of States, Undersecretaries of States and Members of the Parliament as well as fellow Malaysian Muslims residing in Phnom Penh came to witness the event.
In his remarks, the Malaysian Ambassador extended his heartfelt gratitude to H.E. Senior Minister and handed over a letter of appreciation from the Honourable Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, Prime Minister of Malaysia, addressed to the latter in helping on the release of 47 Malaysian detainees in Banteay Meanchey in last February. During the Iftar dinner, Ramadan food packages were also distributed to the representatives from two fishermen villages in Phnom Penh. The dinner was later followed by a Tarawih prayers at the Chancery Building of the Embassy.
