The Social Affairs Minister has urged citizens to educate their family members on how to avoid domestic violence, and promote good values.
Social Affairs Minister Vong Soth made the statement in Kampong Cham province during a pre-celebration of International Family Day today.
Mr Soth said he wanted to promote good values among families who have worked hard to education and discipline their children. He said the message was in part brought by Prime Minister Hun Sen.
“The government has made great efforts to take measures in improving people’s livelihoods and well-being of families for the purpose of contributing to social development and harmonisation,” Mr Soth said. “This was done through the creation of laws, various policies and regulations on family values.”
He noted that the government will implement a programme to provide financial support to pregnant women and impoverished families in June.
