Russian embassy plants trees to honour WWII dead

The Russian Embassy today held a tree planting event to mark the 74th anniversary of the then Soviet Union’s victory over Nazi Germany in the Great Patriotic War (a part of World War II) in 1945.

The event, “Plant a Tree for That Man”, honoured about 27 million Russian citizens who gave their lives fighting fascist forces, was held at the school in the embassy’s compound.

An embassy statement said that Russian Ambassador Dmitry Tsvetkov, embassy staff and representatives from the Culture, Education, Youth and Sports and Foreign Affairs ministries took part in the event.
