Stung Treng provincial military police yesterday arrested four Vietnamese nationals caught poaching in a wildlife sanctuary in Sesan district.
Sok Rithy, district military police commander, yesterday confirmed the arrests but referred questions to the provincial military police.
Local media reported that provincial military officers arrested the Vietnamese after receiving information about their activities on Tuesday from villagers in the district’s Sdao commune.
“We arrested them and seized carcasses of some animals, guns, and bullets laced with chemical substances,” he said.
Brigadier General Eng Hy, National Military Police spokesman, yesterday said that provincial military police officers are now questioning the suspects.
“We are questioning them at the provincial military police headquarters,” he said, declining to comment further.
