The Petanque and Boules Federation intends to send four athletes to the impending 2019 Petanque Championships in Spain.

Im Phat, Federation coach, told media yesterday that the Petanque and Boules Federation of Cambodia was ready to send four athletes, three of whom were World Gold Medalists to participate in the World Winter Games,Spain in late April 2019.

Confirmed to attend were Ouk Sreymom, a three-time world champion and SEA Games medallist, as well as fellow world-class medalist Sok Chan.

Petanque, one of Europe’s most popular outdoor games, originated in the south of France in the early 1900s. The aim of the game is to roll a number of hollow steel balls as close as possible to a small wooden target ball. Players take turns, and the team that ends up nearest to the target ball when all balls are played is declared the overall winner.
