Speaking at the annual meeting of the National Committee for Counter Trafficking at the ministry, Mr Kheng urged officials to give timely assistance to victims and also educate people on how to avoid danger during natural disasters especially storms.

“We must try our best to help our people on time, especially during this hot season with occasional storms which bring strong winds like the one in Battambang province on Monday which damaged more than 500 houses and injured some people,” he said.

He said 12 people were killed and 17 people were injured by lightning, adding that one person died, eight were hurt and 2,289 houses were damaged during the storms.
