Kampong Speu Provincial Court yesterday charged six people with drug trafficking for moving nearly one kilogram of crystal meth in Samrong Tong district.
Major Ly Vannak, a provincial anti-drug police officer, identified the six accused as Un Phally, 33; Chorn Socheat, 30; Tep Kosal, 28; An Pisey, 24; Khieu Che, 22; and Yan Da, 19.
Maj Vannak said they were all experienced drug distributors who sold drugs to users in the province. They were charged yesterday with drug use and trafficking, he noted.
Maj Vannak noted that at about 11am on Sunday, provincial anti-drug police and Samrong Tong district police raided a rental house in Samrong Tong commune while the accused were smoking drugs.
Maj Vannak said that police knew of the house because an undercover police officer had contacted Mr Phally, who was the group’s leader, to buy drugs.
Mr Phally informed the undercover officer to meet him on Sunday at 11am to purchase the drugs at his rental house.
“They were arrested red-handed after our police raided their rental house in Samrong Tong commune,” Maj Vannak said. “After their arrests, police seized a total of 11 packages of crystal meth weighing nearly one kilogram, one drug scale, six phones, one sword, as well as other drug-using materials.”
“After their arrests, we tested their urine and the results came back positive,” he added.
He noted that the accused have been jailed pending trial.
