[Phnom Penh, March 15, 2019] The Digital Cambodia 2019 was held today in Phnom Penh at the Diamond Island Exhibition Hall. National Institute of Posts, Telecommunication, Information and Communication Technology (NIPTICT), with the support of the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications (MPTC).
At the opening event, H.E. Dr. Aun Pornmoniroth, Deputy Prime Minister and minister of economy and finance delivered a keynote speech, “This is the first time we organize Digital Cambodia 2019 in the country, timely to gather together with all related stakeholders at the national and regional lever at the beginning of the sixth mandate of the Royal Government of Cambodia. Digital technologies will give Cambodia the opportunity to leapfrog traditional stages of development, but it will take the country at least 10 years to complete the transition into a full-fledged digital economy”
David Li, CEO of Huawei Technologies (Cambodia) Co., Ltd. delivered the speech during the opening ceremony of Digital Cambodia March 15th morning “Huawei has been dedicated in Cambodia for 20 years since 1999. This year marks Huawei Cambodia 20th anniversary. Moving forward, Huawei’s vision and mission in Cambodia are clear: Huawei will bring digital to every person, home and organization for a fully connected, intelligent Cambodia, which is consistent with the theme of Digital Cambodia.”
CEO David mentioned, As the main sponsor for “Digital Cambodia”, Huawei believes “Digital Cambodia” is a terrific platform initiated by Royal Government of Cambodia, which provides all ICT industry stakeholders with the opportunity to exchange ideas and is also a very important milestone to help Cambodia going towards industry 4.0. During Digital Cambodia, Huawei won the “Best Technology Vendor of the Year 2019” award issued by Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of Cambodia. H.E Tram Iv Tek, Minister of Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications appraised Huawei for its 20 years commitment in Cambodia and expressed appreciation for Huawei great support this time.
First day of the event, delegates from government and private sector such as Smart, Metfone, Seatel, Cellcard, Kingtel, Singmeng, Cambo Tech visited Huawei booth and showed great interest in Huawei latest technologies, such as 5G, Cloud Solutions, VR gaming and the first Huawei 5G fordable phone, Mate X.
