Cambodia is rich in water resources for agricultural production and biodiversity. The presence of Mekong river, Tonlé Sap and Tonlé Bassac contributes in the economic and social progress in the Kingdom. Mekong river flows through five provinces – Kratie, Kampongcham, Stung Treng, Prey Veng, and Kandal. Tonlé Sap flows through Kampong Chnang, Kampong Thom, Battambang, Porsat and Siem Reap. Tonlé Bassac mainly flows through Phnom Penh City.
To promote these water and marine resources, the people of Cambodia celebrate River Festival. This year, the festivity will be held in Kampong Chhnang on March 15 to 17.
