Prime Minister Hun Sen warned all officials on Friday morning (March 1) that they will be punished under the law if they perform any act that disturbs the social development and the happiness of the people.
Speaking at the ground-breaking ceremony for the Cambodia-China Friendship Thbong Khmum Hospital (in the same named province), the PM said that Cambodians must all work hard for the development the country.
“I want to say that any government officials who perform any bad act will be punished by law; that they will be fired or they could face serious punishment by the law. I will fight all who disturb or destroy the benefits and happiness of the people, even if they are tigers, snakes, mice, grasshoppers, or even flies. It must be done.”
The PM added that he didn’t have the time to educate or advise those officials anymore because he has spent a lot of time at it already. He doesn’t need to tell the government officials the same thing over and over.
“Both civil servants and arm forces: I don’t care how high-ranking you are, I can take action against you. As I said – I fight all, tiger or snake or flies.”
The construction of the Cambodia-China Friendship Thbong Khmum Hospital will cost some $50 million and take 40 months to complete and is located on a 2.43 hectare (6 acres) plot. The 300-bed hospital will be equipped with modern state-of-the-art medical equipment.
The primer said that the Cambodia-China Friendship Thbong Khmum Hospital is the second largest hospital project funded by the Chinese government, the largest being the Cambodia-China Friendship Preah Kossamak Hospital in Phnom Penh; its ground breaking ceremony took place in October 2018
