Representatives from 39 Australian Education Institutions are coming to Cambodia to Meet with Students and Families

IDP Education, a world leader in international education and student placement services for the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the US and Ireland, has more than 50 years’ experience in international education around the world, and has been operating in Cambodia for 27 years.

At the Great Duke Phnom Penh (formerly InterContinental Hotel) on 6 March 2019, the IDP Australian Education & Scholarship Expo will be launched by Luke Arnold, Australian Deputy Ambassador, and on 7 March 2019 the doors will open to the public to meet with representatives from 39 Australian education institutions who will provide face-to-face advice to students and parents on study options in Australia.

EOrganised annually by IDP Education, the Expo provides the best forum for Cambodian students and their families to meet representatives from prestigious schools, universities and education providers from across Australia who can offer advice and guidance on study options, study costs, the cost of living and the visa application process in Australia. The 38 participating institutions represent study options from secondary school to vocational training and postgraduate study.

Representatives from the Australian Embassy in Phnom Penh and the Department of Home Affairs will be present at the expo. When Dionne Dionisio, First Secretary (Immigration and Border Protection), Principal Migration Officer, Department of Home Affairs was asked to comment she said, “Australia continues to be a popular study destination for international students. For the 2017-18 program year to 30 June 2018, there were 422,959 student visas granted by the Department of Home Affairs – an increase of 11.3 per cent compared with the previous program year. Australia has a world leading Student visa program, underpinned by the Simplified Student Visa Framework (SSVF). The SSVF makes it easier for genuine students to apply and be granted Student visas, allows the Australian government to be responsive to risk and integrity, while also reducing red tape for business within the international education sector”.

Australia is proving to be one of the most popular choices for Cambodian students to continue their education. Sreng Mao, Country Director, IDP Education (Cambodia) said, “Employers are increasingly seeking candidates who have received degrees from countries abroad, such as Australia, and are demanding the quality and skills that come from their time receiving a world-class education. At the same time, more students are recognising this and choosing to obtain a degree from an overseas institution”.

Representatives from the Australian Centre for Education (ACE) will attend to provide advice on the English language proficiency requirements of Australian education institutions. Representatives from IELTS, a globally accepted English proficiency test, will also be present to advise on test registration and preparation.

“The IDP Australian Education & Scholarship Expo helps students to travel to Australian institutions by allowing them to speak to a variety of representatives, which helps them to consider what degrees and subjects might be right for them”, said Vantak Chheang, Student Placement Manager, IDP Education (Cambodia).
