Phnom Penh is hosting the nine-day ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Under-22 Youth Football Championships which got underway at the Olympic Stadium yesterday.
The regional football youth tournament kicked off yesterday and will wrap up on February 26. All matches will be played at the Olympic Stadium. Yesterday’s competition opener saw Vietnam edge out the Philippines 2-1.
Teams are divided into two groups and will play in a round-robin format. The two highest finishers in each group will advance to the semi-finals.
Cambodia are drawn in Group B, alongside Malaysia, and Indonesia, Myanmar. They play their first game against Malaysia today.
Elsewhere, in Group A, Vietnam, the Philippines, Timor Leste are drawn against competition favourites Thailand.
