Phnom Penh Municipal Court yesterday charged a man who allegedly threatened to post nude photos of his girlfriend after she ended their relationship and refused to have sex with him.

A court document identified him as Bun Mab, 29, a tuk-tuk driver living in Por Senchey district.

The court charged him with threats and blackmail and he faces up to five years in jail if convicted.

Mr Mab was arrested on January 31 in his house in the district and is now in prison pending trial.

Captain Ly Chantha, an Anti-Cybercrimes Department police officer at the Interior Ministry, said that the accused was arrested after he posted voice clips on WhatsApp Messenger in which he threatened to post nude photos and sex clips of his 18-year-old girlfriend because she refused to meet and have sex with him in a guesthouse room.

Mr Mab was arrested following a complaint from the girlfriend.

Cap Chantha said that in her complaint to the Anti-Cybercrimes Department on January 30, the girlfriend said that she became Facebook friends with the accused in May last year.

He noted that they then started a relationship and often had sex in guesthouse rooms.

Cap Chantha said that each time they had sex, Mr Mab would film the session on his mobile phone to keep as a memento.

He said that in early January, the victim’s parents found out about the relationship and she called the accused to tell him she was ending their affair.

Cap Chantha said Mr Mab then kept calling her to meet with him in a guesthouse, but she did not answer his calls.

He said the accused became angry and on January 25, he threatened to post her nude photos and sex video clips on Facebook if she did not come to a guesthouse on January 30 to have sex with him.

“He was angry at her for ending their affair and refusing to have sex with him,” Cap Chantha said. “He then WhatsApped her and threatened to post her nude photos and video clips of their previous sex sessions.”

He said the victim saved his message and filed the complaint against the accused on January 29.

Cap Chantha said that after his arrest on January 31, Mr Mab admitted to issuing the threat because he was angry with the victim for refusing him.
