Phnom Penh Municipal Court yesterday charged three security guards over the sale of crystal meth to an undercover police officer in Sen Sok district.

Major Mom Sitha, a municipal anti-drug police officer, identified the accused as Ben Hach, 34; In Phini, 30; and Hin Sothuch, 25. All three were security guards employed with a private company in the city.

Maj Sitha said they were yesterday charged with drug use and trafficking after being arrested on Saturday. They are in prison pending trial.

He said that they often sold drugs to users in clubs in the capital and noted that at about 1am on Saturday, they sold drugs to an undercover police officer who disguised himself as a drug dealer in O’Bek Ka’am commune.

“While they were selling drugs to the undercover police officer, anti-drug police officers surrounded them and arrested them,” he said. “After their arrests, we confiscated two packages of crystal meth, three phones, and a motorbike.”

He said all three tested positive for drug use after their arrests and noted that their arrests were made possible by information provided by five drug users in January.
