ADB offers aid after twin blasts in Mindanao

MANILA (Xinhua) – The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has said it is ready to help the Philippine government in pursuit of peace in Mindanao and provide assistance as needed following Sunday’s twin explosions in Jolo, the capital of the Philippines’s Sulu province that killed 22 people and injured 100 others.

The Manila-based multilateral lender emphasized it has been a major partner of the Philippine government in promoting growth, development, and peace in Mindanao.

Vice-President Stephen Groff said “ ADB stands ready to support the government of the Philippines in the peace process and provide assistance as needed.”

The bank started building key infrastructure projects in rural areas of Mindanao in the late 1960s to early 1970s to increase farm productivity,income.and bridge networks in the region.
