In two weeks, we will be ushering in the Year of the Pig and the celebration in Singapore will be nothing less than impressive. From colourful dragon dances to exuberant fireworks displays and authentic Chinese delights, everyone visiting Singapore this Lunar New Year will be in for a fabulous experience.

Start the celebration at River Hongbao, a week-long of Chinese cultural experiences at Singapore’s iconic floating platform, NS Square, from 3 – 10 Feb. River Hongbao has been one of the country’s best-loved events and on the festive calendar every year since 1987. Organised in collaboration with the Singapore Federation of Chinese Clan Associations, this event has gotten bigger and brighter every single year.

Alongside the annual display of larger-than-life lantern displays, interactive exhibits, food street and nightly performances, this year’s River Hongbao will feature the most spectacular fireworks in the event’s 33-year history. Award-winning fireworks artists from across the globe will create a spectacular show to light up the night sky in the Marina Bay area, which will last for at least three minutes, on all eight nights of River Hongbao. To top that, on four special nights (3, 4, 9 and 10 February), visitors can look forward to being dazzled by 12 minutes’ worth of fireworks display over three time slots per evening.

For those looking forward to the larger-than-life lanterns this year, catch the breath-taking massive lanterns that depict Chinese mythological figures such as the all-time favourite Zodiac and God of Fortune lanterns. Offering you and your family the perfect photo opportunity for your Instagram, be sure to have a photo with the grand arch of a majestic dragon forming “200”, marking Singapore’s Bicentennial.

To add to all the excitement and fun, enjoy over 20 thrilling amusement rides and carnival games like Bumper Cars, Drum Walker, Goblet Toss and more! Also do not miss the exhibition “A Harbour and Home: The Singapore River Through Time”, that takes you through a historical ride into Singapore’s past leading to the successes of today. There will also be stage performances by Singapore’s best artists such as Joanna Dong and S Pop winners, and a huge spread of Chinese New Year goodies you can dig into. What awaits you at the River Hongbao is too exciting to miss. So what are you waiting for? Head down to Singapore to enjoy this extravaganza, happening only during the Lunar New Year!
