Apple is rumoured to be resurrecting its long-delayed AirPower wireless charging mat. According to a tweet coming from ChargerLAB, a “credible source” says that Apple will begin rolling out the wireless charging mat in the coming months.
Apple first announced the accessory in September 2017, boasting its wireless charging capabilities in with the iPhone 8 and iPhone X.
It said its device would also charge the iPhone, Apple Watch, and newly-configured wireless AirPods – when released.
In June of last year, Apple was said to be having technical issues with the charging mat overheating due to the demands of charging three separate devices at once.
However, it looks like those teething troubles will be over as insiders suggest Apple will allow consumers to buy the device in early 2019.
Apple is also said to be releasing the second-generation of its insanely popular AirPods sometime later this year. The new model is rumoured to handle support for wireless charging.
