The body of the missing boy was found at 8 am today after disappearing for three days from river bank collapse in Kandal province’s Mok Kampol district.
Yearn Sath, chief of district penal police bureau, said that authorities found the body of Kun Kimheng , 14-year-old boy near the collapsed river bank after he slipped and plunged into Mekong river while he was playing with three other boys.
“Now, the body of the boy was sent to his family for funeral,” Mr Sath said.
Kith Menghun, a school teacher, said that for a few days, authorities lost hope because they could not locate the body.
“Before we lost hope because we could not find the body. We thought that the body was buried under the collapsed piece of land but now his body surfaced from the river,” Mr Menghun said.
He said that the school management warned all students not to visit the collapsed river bank or nearby to avoid accidents.
“The school instructed all students not to play near the river bank because this time, it is very dangerous due to the river bank collapsing. We don’t know when it happens again,” he said.
On Monday, more than 50 meters of river bank were collapsing in Mok Kampol district and destroyed some part of pagoda’s fence and a stupa down into the river.
After that four boys were playing at the collapsing area and then they slipped and plunged into the river, immediately, three boys were rescued on time but one boy missing.
