Chinese smartphone manufacturer Huawei revealed its unique Nova 4 complete with a curious circular “hole-punch” in the screen.

With companies looking at ever more ways to push the envelope, Huawei revealed its addition to a crowded ‘bezelless’ market earlier this week. The hole is a special cut-out for the 25-megapixel selfie camera.

The company revealed it had sold a startling 65 million devices in the nova series launched in 2016.

Korean behemoth Samsung actually beat Huawei to the punch by revealing its Galaxy A8s last week. Samsung’s effort does seem to be less polished than Huawei’s.

The device also packs a 48-megapixel primary camera on the rear and forms part of a three-camera setup on the Nova 4. It is powered by a Kirin 970 processor found in the View 10 and flagship Huawei P20 Pro. The fingerprint sensor is located on the rear.

The screen is a 6.4-inch 2310 x 1080 affair, while 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage should keep the device running smoothly. It also boasts 18W fast charging over USB-C, and a sizeable 3,750mAh battery.

The Nova 4 is set to market for a shade under $500 and with impressive specs should continue to help claw consumers away from Samsung and Apple.
