Siem Reap Provincial Court is set to question nine Chinese nationals who allegedly distributed online porn involving children in Siem Reap city on Saturday, police said yesterday.

A police report identified the suspects as Pan Zhifu, 30, Huang Xinfa, 23, Huang Fulong, 27, Wei Jibo, 22, Gu Shengfeng, 20, Li Weiming, 25, Pan Xiadong, 31, Pan Zongji, 36, and Dai Guangqiang, 34.

It said that the nine men were arrested on Saturday during raids on guesthouse rooms and rental houses at three different locations in the city’s Svay Dangkum and Slakram communes.

It added that the suspects were arrested red-handed with child porn being posted online via computers and police also seized sex toys from their premises.

A city police officer, who declined to be named, yesterday said that the provincial immigration police department also took part in the raids because the case involved foreign nationals.

“The city police cooperated with the immigration office of the provincial police because when foreigners are involved, the immigration office will take charge,” he said. “After their arrests they were sent to the provincial police for further questioning.”

Major General Tith Naron, provincial police chief, yesterday said that the nine Chinese were sent to the provincial court yesterday for more questioning.

“They were arrested by the city police on Saturday and we have already questioned them,” he said. “The next step is for the provincial court to decide what charges it is going to lay against the suspects.”
