Third Universal Khmer Song Festival Has Found Its Idols

PHNOM PENH, (Khmer Times) – The third Universal Khmer Song Festival ended and the winners were announced on Thursday night, July 31, at Koh Pich Theater, Phnom Penh.
 
The prizes of the Third Universal Khmer Song Festival in 2014 went to: Sun Sreypov and Ouk Sarom – the only female winners – in the category “Chant”. The other prize winners were: Kouch Sokha and Teav Ratana in the category “Symphony”; Thong Saron and Nov Sopheak in the category “Modern Song  ‘; and Ly Na and Chheng Phearom in the category “Yike.”  
 
The festival contests were in four categories: chant, symphony, modern song, and Yike and. The first to third prize winners received a trophy, a monetary reward and a certificate of merit.  Certificates of appreciation were awarded all other of contestants and core sponsors of the event
 
The final day of the festival saw the participants being addressed by the minister in charge of the  Council of Ministers, Sok An, and the minister of the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts, Phoeurng Sackona. 
During the event, contemporary dances were also presented on stage. They received great attention from audience, and one hopes that it will share the Cambodian art to international stage.
