Siem Reap Provincial Court yesterday charged a woman who allegedly offered sex services in her massage shop in Siem Reap city.
Major Nuon Sopheak, provincial anti-human trafficking and juvenile protection department deputy chief, identified her as Hun Chansen, 32, the owner of 8989 massage shop in Chreach commune.
He said the accused was arrested at about 8.30pm on Tuesday during a raid on her massage shop and was charged with procurement of prostitution. She faces up to five years in jail if convicted.
Maj Sopheak said that during the raid, provincial anti-human trafficking and juvenile protection police arrested five masseuses, aged from 20 to 35 years, four of whom were caught red-handed having sex with clients.
He added that the other woman had just finished having sex with a client and police seized a notebook with details of clients who had sex and used and unused condoms in the shop’s rooms.
“Ms Chansen operated a pimping business in her massage shop,” Maj Sopheak said. “She has allowed the masseuses to have sex with their clients for between $20 and $30 per session.”
“She deducted from $5 to $10 each from the masseuses as commission,” he added.
Maj Sopheak said Ms Chansen is now in prison pending trial and the masseuses were sent to the provincial rehabilitation centre.
In another case, Kampot Provincial Court on Wednesday charged a 56-year-old woman who also allegedly operated a massage shop offering sex services in Kampot city.
Lieutenant Colonel Hor Vanna, city deputy police chief, identified the accused as Sao Sokhorn, the owner of a Sokhorn Massage Shop in Andoung Khmer commune.
He said Ms Sokhorn was arrested on Monday and is charged with procurement of prostitution. She also faces five years in jail if convicted.
Lt Col Vanna said that at about 9.30pm on Monday, provincial anti-human trafficking police raided the accused’s shop in Andong Khmer village and caught red handed three masseuses, aged 25, 30 and 35, having sex with their clients.
He said police also arrested three men who had sex with them and another man who was waiting for his turn.
Lt Col Vanna added that police also seized a notebook with the names of clients and also used condoms from the shop.
“Police raided Ms Sokhorn’s shop while the three masseuses, who worked with her, were having sex with clients inside the shop rooms,” he said.
Lt Col Vanna added that the masseuses were sent to the provincial rehabilitation centre while the men were released after police cautioned them.
The accused is now in prison pending trial.
