More than 100,000 students have taken their national exam today while exam process goes smoothly across the country, Education Minister said.

Education Minister Hang Chuon Naron this morning opened the sealed boxes of test at Preah Sisowath High School exam center in Phnom Penh.

“If students pass answer sheets to each other, both will automatically fail,” Mr Chuon Naron said.

“With support by the Prime Minister and good cooperation with provincial and municipal authorities, we succeed in organizing the exams,” he said.

This morning, there are two subjects for science class–history and biology and social science includes earth, environment and history.

The Ministry of Education said when the exams are ongoing, some students felt dizzy and nauseous but they are taken to clinics for medications.

“Some students in some districts have health problems during the exams due to dizziness and vomiting. Some students have resumed their exam after receiving first aid from their current medical team,” it said.

The exam takes place today and tomorrow, with 117,061 high school students taking part, a rise from the 103,112 students last year.

The number of exam centres has also risen, from 178 to 195. The exam is divided into two groups, of which 51.7 percent is science and 48.3 percent social science.

A total of 5,000 observers are deployed for the exam to prevent cheating and to continue the ministry reforms, the Anti-Corruption Unit said.
