Four high-ranking Funcinpec officials, i.e. three deputy presidents and one deputy secretary general, have been removed from office.
The directive to this effect was signed by the party’s president, Prince Norodom Ranariddh, and retires the (now one-time) deputy presidents Por Bun Sreu, You Hockry, and Nhep Bun. They have been promoted to senior party council members.
Van Sophanna has also lost his position as deputy secretary general.
Prince Norodom Ranariddh appointed his eldest son, Prince Norodom Chakravuth, to take over the leadership of the party in his absence. Prince Ranariddh is in the hospital recovering from the car crash that killed his wife.
