The Cambodian Mine Action Centre (CMAC) cleared 84 anti personal landmines in Battambang province on Thursday, July 12.  They are PMN-2 type landmines.

Heng Ratana, Director General of CMAC, said that the landmines were found in a minefield at Battambang province.   “These [mine clearing] efforts can contribute to peace building and peace strengthening, both physically and mentally, [for the residents of the region].”

According to a CMAC report, in the first five months of 2018 officials from the demining agency found and destroyed more than 6,300 UXOs (unexploded ordinance) across the country.  Most of the finds were made in the provinces of Battambang, Kampong Cham, Tbong Khmum and Kandal.
