Five owners and managers of a massage shop in Phnom Penh’s Dangkor district were arrested on Tuesday by anti-human trafficking police for allegedly offering illegal sex services on the premises.

Owners Suong Veasna, 28, and his wife Va Theary, 30, operated the 168 Heng shop in Dangkor commune.

Muth Phalla, 22, Svay Thida, 33, and Ny Makara, 16, were managers whose main duties were to find men to have sex with the masseuses.

Keo Virak, a anti-human trafficking and juvenile protection police officer, said the five opened the business to provide massages for men on the outskirts of the city.

But they secretly provided prostitution services in their shop at a cost of between $20 to $30, he said.

“They deducted $5 to $10 from the masseuses per client as commission,” he added.

Mr Virak said they were arrested by anti-human trafficking police in collaboration with local police and a municipal court prosecutor during a raid on the shop which took place while some of the masseuses were having sex with customers.

Police caught five masseuses working as sex workers, two of whom were underage.

Other evidence seized included a notebook of guests having sex, and used and unused condoms.

Mr Virak said the five were being detained for questioning.

The masseuses have been sent to a municipal rehabilitation centre.
