The Royal Gendarmerie of Cambodia warned that it will take legal action against anyone unlawfully using uniforms, ID cards, and vehicle markings that identify members of the military police or military officers.

The statement was issued because some people have been wearing uniforms, brandishing ID cards and vehicle markings in public spaces, and posting photos on social media.

The National Military Police also warned against any form of false recruitment for the police.  “We do not recruit military police now.  When we do so, we will inform the public.”

This follows the arrest of six people on Tuesday, June 19, for allegedly cheating people by promising to help them get military police jobs.  They were identified as: Chak Seangly, 49, Ou Phally, 50, Chroeng Vireak, 39, Chorn Samrong, 40, Kum Samnang, 25, Lao Porkheang, 47.
