Two suspected drug traffickers were arrested on Wednesday for allegedly possessing 250 bottles of ketamine and two packages of crystal methamphetamine in Banteay Meanchey province.
Provincial military police deputy commander Colonel Sar Bunsoeung said Lay Tithseiha, 28, and Doeum Minea, 22, drove past a military police checkpoint in Serei Sorphoan city’s Preah Ponlea commune.
Military police who were on duty were suspicious about their activities and stopped and inspected them.
“They were targeted as drug traffickers who habitually sold drugs to users in casinos in Poipet city on the Cambodia-Thai border,” Mr Bunsoeung said. “They were arrested while they transported drugs to sell to users in Poipet.”
After their arrests, military police seized 250 bottles of ketamine liquid, and two packages of crystal methamphetamine weighing 5.8 grams, he said.
Both face initial police charges of drug trafficking and are being held for questioning and further investigation at provincial military police headquarters.
They will be sent to the provincial court for questioning today.
