An alleged member of a drug-trafficking gang was arrested on Tuesday and accused of possessing nearly half a kilo of crystal methamphetamine.
Nai Phary, 32, a lotions vendor, was detained at her rented house in Meanchey district’s Chamroeun Phal village. “She was a gang target and an active drug distributor who often brought drugs to sell to users in Phnom Penh,” said Sok Seng, deputy chief of the Interior Ministry’s anti-drugs department.
“Police investigated her for many months before we moved in and arrested her,” he added. “She was arrested after she contacted our undercover police and did a drug deal at her house. She was arrested with hard evidence.”
Police confiscated 11 packages of crystal methamphetamine weighing nearly half a kilo, a drug scale and other related drug-using materials from her house, Mr Seng noted.
Mr Seng said that the accused faces police charges of drug possession and trafficking and is being detained for questioning and further investigation by ministry anti-drug police.
